RURAL BUSINESS PROCESS OUTSOURCING (RBPO) CENTRES IN TAMIL NADU

The first rural BPO in the country was established by the Krishnagiri District Administration in 2007. Government announced an Enhanced Rural BPO Policy 2012 on 01.06.2012. The policy’s intention is to bring more number of entrepreneurs to establish their BPO enterprises in rural location and for empowerment of villages in Tamil Nadu.

This policy incentivises BPO companies/ entrepreneurs to establish their rural BPO centres in their own/rented premises and also in educational institutions situated in Village Panchayat areas.

The financial support in terms of capital subsidy and training subsidy would be provided to each rural BPO centre with minimum employment of 50 persons. The capital subsidy amount will be subject to a maximum amount of Rs. 5.00 lakhs and training subsidy as maximum amount of Rs. 2.25 lakhs.

M/s Sutherland Global Services has setup their Rural BPO facility in the Shivani College of Engineering & Technology Campus, Tiruchirappalli based on the facilitation and coordination by ELCOT. The Rural BPO Centre was opened by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 03.06.2013 at Navalur – Kuttapattu Village, Srirangam in Tiruchirappalli District. A revised rural BPO policy is on the anvil.
