  The Fisheries department has entrusted the implementation of "Seamless Communication Network" project to ELCOT. The scope of the project is to provide communication between boat and shore station so that at the time of distress the fishermen can contact the shore station for search and rescue operations, apart from enabling the fishermen to communicate among themselves. The field trials have been carried out in the high seas of Ramanathapuram District and the tests have been successfully completed. The work is expected to be implemented and completed by August 2009. |
